PEDIATRIC PELVIC

HEALTH

Bedwetting, constipation, and pelvic pain can affect children overall well-being. Our specialized therapy uses gentle, age-appropriate techniques to improve pelvic floor function and support healthy habits, empowering children to thrive.

PEDIATRIC Care

Pediatric pelvic health encompasses a range of conditions affecting the pelvic region in children and adolescents. While less commonly discussed, these conditions can have significant impacts on a child’s physical, emotional, and social well-being. At Rise Above, we’re committed to providing information, support, and resources for families navigating pediatric pelvic health concerns.

Here are some common pediatric pelvic health conditions

Constipation and Encopresis

Difficulty passing stools regularly or withholding bowel movements, leading to impacted stools and involuntary fecal soiling.

Bedwetting (Nocturnal Enuresis)

Involuntary urination during sleep in children beyond the age of expected bladder control, often due to developmental factors or underlying medical conditions.

Pelvic Pain Syndromes

Chronic pelvic pain conditions, such as pediatric pelvic floor dysfunction or juvenile vulvodynia, which can impact a child's quality of life and daily activities.

Pediatric Pelvic Floor Dysfunction

Dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles, leading to urinary or fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, or difficulty with bowel movements in children.

TREATMENT INVOLVES THE CHILD AND GUARDIAN(S) PRESENCE AND INPUT THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS.

It begins with an extensive initial evaluation discussing past medical history all the way from birth, history of the current problem/concern and an examination addressing the musculoskeletal and neuro-muscular systems. Interventions may include bladder and bowel education, behavioral modifications with toileting, positional changes, breathing techniques, soft tissue mobilization, increasing pelvic floor muscle awareness, stretching and strengthening of the appropriate musculature, and relaxation exercises. Each session will be composed of various activities that will be implemented into your new daily routine.
