Abdominal pain may be caused by reasons such as previous surgeries resulting in scar tissue and adhesions. Other reasons may be due to gastrointestinal or bladder issues. Restriction in muscles in the abdominal region such as the rectus abdominus and hip flexor muscles (iliacus and psoas) may also contribute to pain in the abdomen. Therapy is quite helpful in examing this area to identify restrictions from adhesions and restore tissue mobility. Visceral mobilizations are also helpful to calm any gastrointestinal and bladder symptoms.
