This is pain in the tailbone that can be quite consuming. Coccyx injuries may include falling on the tailbone, or any trauma to this area and even with pregnancy and delivery of your baby. This pain limits tolerance to sitting, walking, bending and transitional movements. At times it can be relentless and require a need for a cushion to sit. Pelvic PT has been quite effective in relaxing the muscles around the coccyx creating a better-balanced pelvis to allow the coccyx to be correctly oriented which relieves pain. Therapy will include massage techniques, strengthening and stretching as well as posture education to minimize pain.
